Empowering our youth with creativity and a connection to nature.

An immersive approach to art that draws inspiration from the natural world. This class deserves it’s own space dedicated to the arts for many generations to come.

the big idea

Wild Artists Youth (WAY) equips young students with materials, knowledge and tools to create in concert with nature. From black walnut shells that become tiny boats to an everyday stick found in your front yard transforming into a magic wand. This immersive, mission-driven approach will appeal to students and parents alike because it inspires, prepares and rewards participation. The outcomes include a deep connection with creativity, nature and possibility.

Renowned professor and architect Brooks Atwood has been teaching at First baptist preschool since September 2025.

The Wild Artists Youth program has been operating out of a shared room in the First Baptist Church. Which means all of the supplies, setup, breakdown and clean up happen every Friday within a very tight timeframe. We are seeking support to transform an extra room inside the school that is currently dormant into a dedicated art space. Where art, exploration and creativity can happen more than one time per week. Where the students can connect to their artistry and craft all the time.

So much fun already!

Our Ask:

We are raising funds to transform the dormant room into a thriving dedicated art studio and to continue building out the program with more educational support.

  • Dedicated space

  • Art supplies

  • Organizational shelving system

  • Teacher support

This is not just art for arts sake, it is about empowering the next generation to connect with their imagination and create their dreams.

Children are our future. Keeping their imagination in tact is our duty as their parents, teachers and peers.
